I am currently a student at Cornell University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences majoring in Agricultural Policy and Communications. I grew in Manhattan in a very food-centric family: my father is a trained chef and my mother is a health counselor. During highschool, I became very involved with the CSA run through my highschool, and during the end of my senior year and following summer I began working in a restaurant kitchen (more to come about these two things in later posts). For a more detailed description of me and the goal of the blog, please check out the first entry: https://foodmattersblog.wordpress.com/2011/10/18/food-matters/.

Many of the blog entries will in some way relate to what I am doing/thinking about in my academic coursework. The post about eating locally, for example, is a modified version of an essay that I wrote for my Sustainable Agriculture class after visiting the Ithaca Farmers’ Market.

Feel free to comment/offer criticism on the entries.
